The afternoon started with an opportunity to meet, connect, and shop. Yes, shop! Everything from handbags to moist, scrumptious coffeecake to classes in real estate investment was offered.
And speaking of all things scrumptious, the lunch that followed reflected the tasteful nature of the event.
Desiree Douboux, the founder of An Empowered Woman, reminded the ladies that the event wasn't just about networking but around sharing stories with each other to really empower each other to make their lives that much better. And, if you are already empowered, "Great," Desiree says, "Go empower someone else."
With that inspirational note, Desiree introduced the afternoon's speaker: Cynthia Kersey, author of the bestselling books Unstoppable and Unstoppable Women.
While the waiters replaced the cleaned lunch plates with delectable, bite-sized desserts, Cynthia told the story of Betty Williams, an "ordinary house wife" who essentially began the peace movement in Northern Ireland and won a Nobel Peace Prize for her work. The story serves as a reminder that there is no such thing as an ordinary anything.
Cynthia went on to explain her some steps that a woman can take to become unstoppable at achieving her dreams, such as to set a specific and measurable goal and remembering why you want something. She was dynamic, funny, and most of all, she was real. She had some of her own stories to tell about her past failures and setbacks, and her motivational speech was peppered with the joyous exclamation,
"Thank God for Women!"
The inspirational energy was palpable, to say the least.
The luncheon closed with not one or two but over ten beautiful, empowered women lining up to give away some of their products, services, and life changing workshops in a raffle. Cynthia also gave away copies of her books and audio program.
Every woman in that room left with a goody bag, business cards from new friends, and the energy to become empowered and unstoppable
